It depends on how deep the scratch is! Clearly, a cut cannot be so deep that the vacuum grease cannot seal the chamber. In addition, if scratches are too broad or are too numerous, then there will not be sufficient compression on the coverglass to get a tight seal and the chamber could leak.

There is no clear theoretical answer to give, and a direct measurement is the only way to find out if the chamber will leak or not!
