Is there a chamber that can perform electrophysiology under hypoxic conditions?

 
There are several ready-to-use options for doing electrophysiology under hypoxic conditions.  To generate hypoxic conditions with each of the following chambers simply pump in a gas such as nitrogen or argon (preferably argon as it is heavier than air).  The positive pressure of the introduced gas excludes air.

The following are links to these options:

· The RC-29 large rectangular open bath and platform allows for gas and temperature control and electrode access to sample.

· The DH-35i Culture Dish incubator allows for gas and temperature control and electrode access by removing the lid or the coverslip in the lid.

· The DH-40i Micro-incubation system allows for gas and temperature control and electrode access by removing the coverslip in the lid.

An approach that would not require gas control would involve adding oil to the surface of the perfusate in the bath to prevent sample exposure to air. The electrode would simply "puncture" the oil to gain access to sample. However, this method is messier than the "gas control" method.
