Does solution exchange take place through the junction of Leak-Free electrodes?

Leak-Free electrodes consist of a unique junction that is robust and highly conductive but not porous. Therefore solution exchange does not take place in either direction.

However, the junction is so conductive that solutions need not physically travel from the sample to the electrode for detection to take place.
