  1. questionCan respirometry software be purchased by itself?
The respirometry software is specifically designed to be used with, and is included with, the Model 929 or Model 782 oxygen meters. However, if necessary, the software can be purchased separately as an upgrade.

  2. questionCan the 1302 Oxygen Sensor work in the gas phase?
The 1302 is a Clark-style electrode and only works in aqueous media.

  3. questionWhat comes with the Electrode Service Kit?
The Polyproplyene1302 Electrode Service Kit comes with six pre-membraned polyproplyene jackets, an abrasive cleaning membrane, and a bottle of electrolyte. The FEP 1302 Electrode Service Kit comes with six un-membraned jackets, FEP membranes, a service tool, cleaning cloth, and electrolyte.

  4. questionCan a dramatic change in temperature affect the accuracy of an O2 sensor?
All electrochemical sensors are affected by temperature. This applies equally to O2 and NO sensors. For a measurement to remain accurate, the temperature must stay constant during the experiment or must be compensated for either in software or within the meter. Some of our oxygen meters do not ...

  5. questionDoes Warner sell a Clark-type sensor similar to the 1302 oxygen sensor which has both anode and cathode constructed with platinum?
We do not carry any O2 electrodes that use Pt as both the anode and cathode. (In general, the anode is usually Ag/AgCl.)

  6. questionHow can I generate and maintain a hypoxic solution for delivery to a chamber?
This is normally achieved by bubbling an O2-free gas through the solution until the O2 load has been depleted. Keep in mind, however, that PE, Tygon, and Teflon tubing are all gas permeable, and therefore will expose your perfusing solutions to O2 during transit. One option to address this is to ...

  7. questionHow do I chloride my silver wire?
There are 2 direct methods you can use to chloride your electrodes:(1) Place the electrode in Clorox bleach for 10-15 minutes.(2) Pass a 1 mA current through the electrode in KCl. Use a 9V battery and a 1 kΩ resistor in series with the electrode. Method 1 is simple and can be used every day ...

  8. questionWhat are the minimum and maximum sample rates that can be chosen with the respirometry software?
The maximum sample rate is 2 per second and the minimum is 1 per 20 seconds.

  9. questionWhat comes with the 1302 oxygen sensor?
The 1302 oxygen electrode comes with the electrode body, a polypropylene jacket, and a small amount of electrolyte. If you order the FEP version of the electrode, then the polypropylene jacket is replaced with an FEP jacket.we recommend ordering an electrode service kit (polypropylene or FEP) whe ...

  10. questionWhat is the maximum recording duration that the respirometry software will allow?
The maximum recording duration is set only by the capacity of the hard disk in the computer. However, the stability of the electrodes poses a practical limit. They should normally be calibrated every 24 hours.

  11. questionWhat is the minimum pCO2 that the Micro-CO2 electrode can measure?
The minimum pCO2 that can be measured using the Micro-CO2 electrode is equivalent to a maximum pH of 10.

  12. questionWhat is the operating temperature of the RC-650 respirometer?
The upper temperature limit for the RC650 respirometer has never been tested. However, it will probably be set by the temperature tolerance of the acrylic from which it is made and by the expansion of the electrode holders in the cells making them difficult to insert/remove.

  13. questionWhat is the resolution of the Micro-CO2 electrode?
Resolution for the Micro-CO2 electrode is 0.05 pH units. The Henderson-Hasselbalch equation below can be solved for pCO2 to get the resolution for CO2 (in mm Hg).

  14. questionWhat is the response time of the Micro-CO2 electrodes?
The response time for the Micro-CO2 electrodes is approximately 30 seconds.

  15. question Do I need to order membranes or an electrode jacket when I buy a 1302 electrode?
Generally speaking, you do not need to buy a membrane or jacket when you purchase an O2 electrode. We do, however, recommend that you purchase an electrode service kit with your electrode as it comes with 6 replacement membraned jackets. Also, note that membranes are no longer sold separately but ...

  17. questionWhat are the operating system requirements for the respirometry software from Strathkelvin?
The software can be easily installed on Windows operating systems up to and including Vista. Presently, issues associated with the USB drivers complicate installation on the Windows 7 operating system. Specifically, the software will work on some 32-bit versions of Windows 7, but not others. It ...
