    A silver-silver chloride ground electrode can be placed directly into the suction well downstream from the sample. Be aware, however, that if you do not continuously perfuse the sample, the silver wire may be able to contaminate the bath.

    There is an excellent Wikipedia page on the subject of silver-silver chloride electrode potential at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_chloride_electrode. However, the standard potential for Ag/AgCl against a standard hydrogen electrode is 230mV ± 10mV.
